I had chest pain so bad, when I called I couldn't even say more than chest pain. They wanted me to stay in the hospital, and I said no. The tests they gave were inconclusive. After 5 hours and an ambulance ride I had enough of the hospital. I go to see my doctor tomorrow. It was terrible. I still feel like I was hit in the chest with a bowling ball.

what did the ecg show? if there wasnt any changes or your cardiac enzymes were ok at least it wasnt a heart attack. could it have been a panic attack? sometimes they can present like that and can be pretty overwhelming and scarey.

Everything looked normal. I have high blood pressure which I'm taking 2 meds for.
I've been also taking meds for GERD. What has been happening have been esophageal spasms/cramps. They have been pretty bad and happen when I am eating or shortly afterward and last 10-45 seconds. I had just finished eating lunch. I had one of those spasm/cramps, but then it changed, The pain didn't go away or subside. It grew in intensity, and brought me to my knees. It was centered right around the heart area. I was on the deck for about 5 minutes in extreme pain. I tried to get up, and vomitted instead. The pain increased so much that I thought if I didn't make it to the phone to get help at that moment I wouldn't ever make it. I dropped the phone and used the speaker phone. I was in the worst agony ever, and all I could get out was "chest pain", went back to the floor until the ambulance showed up. The gave me an aspirin, nitro, air, and took me to the hospital. Blood tests, X-Ray, ECG were ok.
There are some other medical things going on, a new med for cholesteral, a stop in one med, plus problems due to the accident on Jan 31. My right hand has been swelling and is cold. Basically, I am a stinkin' mess.
I'm just passing this info to tell everyone to not wait to get something checked out. I should have gotten the esophogas thing and right arm problem checked out. I had a regular check scheduled for April so I was waiting for that appointment. Well, now it's today. I've got to get ready to go soon. I'm embarassed and feel guilty about calling the ambulance. All I can say in my defense is that the pain was excruciating when I called 911.

You should never feel embarassed for trying to take care of yourself!
And do that in the future! Take care of yourself!
